“In the UK, more than 14 million people are living in poverty, including 4.5 million children. We support more than 1,200 food bank centres in the UK to provide a minimum of three days nutritionally-balanced emergency food to people who have been referred in crisis, as well as support to help people resolve crises they face.” The Trussell Trust. 

On Monday 14th December, staff from the ECS Group head office (ECS Ltd and Total Environmental Compliance Ltd) took a large amount of food donations, Christmas presents and toilettries to the local Trussell Trust Foodbank in Corby, Northamptonshire.

This is the second year that we have collected and donated for our local community. When families are at crisis point and not able to afford food, it is really important for us to be able to contribute to our local food bank.

During the pandemic, food banks in the Trussell Trust network saw an unprecedented increase in need. Between April and September, food banks in their network provided 1,239,399 number of emergency food parcels to people in crisis – of these, 470,854 went to children. This represents a 47% increase in need during the crisis compared to a 23% increase seen this time last year.
